Fostering

Could you foster a dog or cat?

At ACU we are always looking for people that could foster an animal for a short while and provide a temporary home to either a cat or a dog.

Some foster placement last just a couple of weeks while others may be a couple of months. You don’t need to be living permanently in the country to foster; many people do it while they are here on holiday.

Animal Fostering

Benefits to animals

Animal fostering is an important role. It helps to play a vital part in the rehabilitation of animals, aids their recovery after an operation and helps improve their chance of finding a forever home.

Many animals that come to ACU have either suffered or are not used to the care and affection that they deserved. Living with a foster family helps to provide them with one-to-one care. Allowing them to build up their confidence and get used to a normal lifestyle.

Many of our animals undergo operations and sometimes the need for a foster home is to aid their recovery. And there are always young puppies and kittens that need someone to take them in for a few weeks while a forever home is found.

Benefits to people

Fostering an animal can also be a pleasurable experience. It’s rewarding to know that you played a key part in helping the animal through a difficult time. It also gives people who would normally be unable to take in an animal long term due to other commitments, with an alternative.

No prior experience is necessary as ACU will provide you with all the support you need and are always on hand should you have any queries.

If you are interested in fostering please do get in touch.
